Albums of the year as chosen by users of the Fediverse - 2017

Hello all.

I know this one has been quite delayed as it’s been about a month since I asked for your answers to this one so sorry about that. Alas, it is time to go through the results to the album of the year as chosen by users of the Fediverse.

This time out we decided to go more modern, although it’s unsettling to discover these albums are almost 9 years old, you have given me your favourite albums from 2017.

This time out we have no clear winner! There were three different albums that received the joint most votes so it’s going to be a very crowded podium.

The three albums that received the most votes and are the joint winners are:

Nightbringers by The Black Dahlia Murder

Emperor of Sand by Mastodon

Mirror Reaper by Bell Witch

With Mirror Reaper being one long song does that technically make it song of the year too?

Anyway a good showing for the metal crowd there. My personal vote was also for Nightbringers as it might be my favourite in a very strong discography.

And so we move on to second place and it’s German thrash this time. Silver medal goes to:

Gods of Violence by Kreator

They get to keep the medal all to themselves but the same can’t be said for bronze as we have another tie. The two albums tied for third place are:

Apex by Unleash the Archers

The Assassination of Julius Caesar by Ulver

Whilst these are the medal winners, it looks like a strong year so here are the remaining albums that received at least one vote:

Hiss Spun by Chelsea Wolfe

Lotta Sea Lice by Kurt Vile & Courtney Barnett

Legends of the Shires by Threshold

Async by Ryuichi Sakamoto

A Deeper Understanding by The War on Drugs

Medusa by Paradise Lost

Giant Killers by BiSH

Being You Is Great! I Wish I Could Be You More Often by Quelle Chris

Every Country’s Sun by Mogwai

Cornell 5/8/77 by Grateful Dead

I Love My Computer by Ninajirachi

Life Will See You Now by Jens Lekman
