My Fediversary
Well this week marks my three year anniversary of joining the Fediverse after deleting my Twitter account. I also briefly dabbled with Bluesky but that had a lot of the same problems for me and so my account there is also no more.
On November 6th 2022 I opened an account on Mastodon on the instance metalhead.club and this has been the best experience I have ever had with social media. No algorithm or ads, just my own curated timeline of cool ass people posting interesting things, good music and cool art and photography. This is the corporate free social media that we deserve.
I’ve enjoyed my experience with the Fediverse so much that I’ve began my own single user GoToSocial instance and though I’m not currently using it that much, it was a cool experiment and I’m happy to keep it running in the background for now.
My experience on the Fedi and my interactions with others there was also what encouraged me to start this blog!
I think I posted about 14,000 times in 13 years on Twitter. I’m not too far off that number of post on Mastodon already which shows that I’m having more fun and I’m more engaged. Long live the Fedi.
